Your quick guide to staying scam‑smart
3 golden rules
- Only use our official channels: foneyam.co.za or apply.foneyam.co.za, our call centre 0860 900 900, and emails that end with @foneyam.co.za.
- Pay only the FoneYam way. Make payments via Pay@ at participating tills or payat.io, using your unique Pay@ reference found on your Device Rental Schedule.
- Never share your PIN, CVV or one‑time password (OTP) with anyone - not in person, not online, not ever.
How to spot a fake in seconds
Scammers try to look and sound like us - usually on WhatsApp, SMS, or social DMs - then push you to “act now.” If you get an unexpected offer, upgrade, refund, or prize, pause and run this three‑step check:
âś… Check the sender: Official emails end with @foneyam.co.za. Unknown Gmail/Yahoo addresses or strange handles = red flag.
✅ Check the channel: We won’t ask for payment or personal info via DM. If someone messages you first and asks for money or codes, it’s not us.
✅ Check the details: We don’t ask for your OTP, PIN, CVV, remote access to your phone, or “clearance/upgrade fees.”

Red flags that scream “scam”
- “Urgent! Pay now or your account will be blocked.”
- "Congrats! You’ve won an upgrade - just pay a small fee.”
- "Send your OTP/PIN/CVV to verify your identity.”
- We’ve changed our bank details - pay here instead.”
- Links to look‑alike sites or shortened URLs that don’t match foneyam.co.za.
Think you’ve been targeted?
- Stop. Don’t click, pay, or share anything.
- Save evidence. Screenshot messages and numbers.
- Verify directly: Call 0860 900 900 or visit our official site.
- If you shared banking details, contact your bank’s fraud line immediately and change your passwords.
- Consider reporting the number/profile to the platform and, where appropriate, to SAPS.

Good service, but i have a question about the last fee you asked us to pay after 12 months. My question is if i don't pay that fee and return the phone back to you, will you return my money or I'll lose both the money and the phone. Because honestly for 12 months of paying you keep on asking for another fee, isnt that daylight robbery.

FoneYam is the best, my phone was stolen when my house was broken into on 31 Oct 2025, I went to claim at ackermans and I followed all their instructions, on the 12th of November I got an sms saying I can go and take a new phone. Amazing service, thank you so much!! I'm paying for the last time this month and I hope to come back again for an upgradeđź¤
